when you innitiate the game, then you are the away team, so you go to there ground and you bat 1st

and then when they innitiate the game against you, you bat 2nd and its on your ground

if you play an exhibition game, you are the home team always, these games dont show up on the records pages though

It is kinda backwards isn't it? You buy the stadium you want to play in and then have to wait for someone else to challenge you!

You can play as many Exhibition games as you want in your new stadium. Also, home games are huge when you are in the PLs because you don't have any control of when the game will be played, if you have just trained, or whatever. That is why they give you the advantage of home team when people play you. It's kind of like any real sport like baseball. You can build a nice stadium, but you have to wait for people to come play you in the stadium.
